Taneesh has a Master's in linguistics from San Francisco State University, with training abroad in Mexico and Chile. They will be braving the MFA world of writing at University of San Francisco in the fall. More of her work can be found in English and Spanish at www.TaneeshCantos.com.

About the art, a word from the artist:

My project Haiga of Resistance examines my trauma as a survivor of sexual abuse and female genital mutilation. The Japanese haiga tradition pairs haiku with visual images to provide incisive commentary. I have continued this tradition conceptualized the haiku to be woven into my paintings; only up close can you read the haiku.
